Service Animals

DFO Brisbane welcomes accredited service and assistance animals, including those in training. These animals must remain with their handler at all times and be clearly identifiable as working, typically through a harness, lead, or vest.

For assistance animals that are not dogs, handlers may be asked to provide documentation confirming the animal is trained to assist with a disability and meets appropriate standards of hygiene and behaviour in public spaces, in accordance with the Disability Discrimination Act 1992.

If your service animal requires a relief break, a leafy green zone is available outside the 18th Avenue entrance.

Please note: Emotional support animals that provide comfort but are not officially trained to alleviate the effects of a disability are not permitted in the centre. DFO Brisbane staff or security may request evidence of proper accreditation for any assistance animal.

Seating

To support a comfortable shopping experience, seating areas have been thoughtfully placed throughout the centre. These resting spots offer convenient places to pause and recharge between stores.

The Food Court also provides ample seating, making it a great place to relax, enjoy a meal, or take a break during your visit.

Additionally, outdoor seating is available near the main entrances of the centre, offering a quiet space to rest before or after your shopping trip.

Guest Lockers

For customers needing to store personal items or luggage during their visit, there are two convenient options available:

  • Baggage Storage Skygate
Located opposite Woolworths, this luggage storage shop offers secure storage with prices ranging from $12 - $30.
  • SmarteLocke Luggage Storage Lockers

Luggage storage lockers are located in the undercover car park for your convenience as a self-service. These are available on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be pre-booked. Locker prices vary by size, with small lockers available for $10, medium lockers for $16, and large lockers for $20.

  • Luggage Storage Lockers Available from late July 2025
Starting at the end of July, luggage lockers will also be available between the corridor of Converse and Under Armour. Lockers are only accessible during centre trading hours.

Hidden Disabilities Sunflower

DFO Brisbane proudly participates in the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Scheme, which supports and raises awareness for individuals living with non-visible disabilities.

We understand that some conditions, disabilities, or chronic illnesses may not be immediately apparent. Our staff have been trained to recognise the Sunflower lanyard and are ready to offer assistance at any point during your visit. If you need help, please feel free to approach any team member.

Customers who identify as having a hidden or invisible disability can collect a Sunflower lanyard from either the Customer Service Desk (located in the Food Court), or the Centre Management Office (located in the corridor next to Polo Ralph Lauren).

Wearing the lanyard is a discreet way to let centre staff and retailers know that you may require additional support.

Busy Periods

DFO Brisbane experiences its highest foot traffic on weekends, public holidays, and during major sales events, with peak activity often occurring around lunchtime.

For a quieter and more relaxed shopping experience, we recommend planning your visit on a Monday or Tuesday, when the centre tends to be less busy.

Lighting levels vary throughout the centre. Some areas are brightly lit with natural light, while others have more subdued lighting.

  • Spaces with natural light:
    • Food Court
    • Near entrance/exits
  • Spaces with low or subdued lighting:
    • Undercover carpark seating
    • Parent room

TEMPERATURE VARIATIONS
Temperature can fluctuate as you move through the centre. Some areas may feel cooler, especially during the winter months. Typically the food court is warmer than the rest of the centre. We recommend bringing an extra layer of clothing to stay comfortable during your visit.

Noise

Noise levels can vary throughout the centre depending on the time of day, foot traffic, and ongoing works.

Quieter areas:

  • Outside seating (near the undercover parking)
  • Shaded grassy area (outside the Dr Martins and Cotton On entry/exit)
  • Parent Room

Busier and noisier areas:

  • Food Court
  • At each entry/exit

While it is unlikely that an alarm will sound during your visit, in the event that it does, please follow instructions from staff and proceed calmly to the nearest exit.

Please note: Tenancy changes and store refurbishments may result in increased noise in certain areas. These zones are typically marked by hoardings or decals covering closed stores.
